#UgandaIsBleeding

Oh Uganda!

The Land of Freedom,

Our love and labor we give,

And with neighbours’ all,

At our Country’s Call,

In peace and friendship,

We’ll live.

Uganda, officially the Republic of Uganda is a landlocked country in East Central Africa.

Yoweri Museveni has been President of Uganda since 1986 and he is the only remaining dictator in East African region. Yoweri Museveni was involved in rebellions that toppled Ugandan leaders Idi Amin and Milton Obote before he captured power in 1980s. During this time, Uganda has suffered at the hands of corruption, unemployment, etc. With the general elections currently underway, Robert Kyagulanyi (also known as Bobi Wine) is a musician and also, one of the popular president-elects running against Yoweri Museveni. Whilst campaigning, Bobi Wine was arrested by the Ugandan Police Force on 18th November,2020 and many believe that this is an attempt by the President to curb campaign and intimidate his supporters. This has led to protests in the streets of Uganda, with Police using tear gas and rubber bullets on protesters and resorting to violence. This has also led to many protesters being injured and some dying at the hands of police. As of 19th November, 2020, military tanks was deployed.

A journalist got beaten up to a pulp by Ugandan Police because he was capturing scenes of them beating up and arresting supporters of Bobi Wine. #JournalismIsNotACrime

We are tired of seeing our brothers and sisters being treated like this in Uganda.

Ugandan Police Force has no respect for civilians! It is so devastating watching the current happenings in Uganda ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ’”.

How can we help:

For our brothers and sisters in Uganda; We see you; We hear your cry; We are ONE; Let’s unite together because our voices and unity matters a lot. Together we can #EndPoliceBrutalityInUganda ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฌ#FreeBobiWine
